Many people held private events of their own where money was collected for the Finnish Relief Fund. The fund itself sometimes offered suggestions for specific groups containing ideas for possible events and how to collect money through these events. These groups ranged from local woman’s groups to the Motion Picture Division. 1.9 million dollars was raised through private donors.
